Io does not physically, Using,
A/B = cos θ......................................................................................................95
when A/B → 0, equation 95 becomes,
A/B = θ.............................................................................................................96
The resolution of Galileo's telescope is 20 arcsec. Distance to Jupiter is (7.78 x 1011 m)
A = θ x B = [(20) / 3600] x (7.78 x 1011 m) = 4.3 x 10^6 km
The diameter of Io is said to be 3,640 km which is three order of magnitude greater than the diameter of Io that can be measured using a 20 arcsec telescope. Using the Hubble (.05 arcsec) is 10,805 km which cannot resolute Io.
